Doug Werner

Doug "Doc" Werner

Percussionist

Born in Erie, PA, Doug has made Tampa his home since 1984.  Doug excels in a multitude of percussion instruments to include congas, bongos, and tabla.  He is also a proficient Sitarist, having studied with internationally recognized star, Roop Verna.  Doug began playing music at the young age of 5.  But it wasn’t until the “jazz” bug hit that he turned his interest to percussions. Here in Tampa he had the great fortune to study with Ramon Lopez, percussionist for the Stan Kenton Band and is now much sought after by touring groups when that special sparkle is needed to their shows. Locally he has performed and recorded with vocalist Belinda Womack and then guitarist Richey Kicklighter, recording 3 albums and touring for several years, before joining the stage with Gil Machin for more than 10 years now.
